After the Associated Press determined that former Vice President Joe Biden was certain to claim at least the 270 electoral votes necessary to defeat President Donald Trump, St. Louisans were quick to herald the victory as a signal that a divided nation can begin to heal. But many activists say that as much as they are celebrating Biden's projected victory, there is still plenty of work to do, especially when it comes to ending racism.

Harris is the first woman, the first Black person and the first Asian American elected vice president of the United States. Her rise marks a statement about a changing nation.
