Democrat Kelli Dunaway announced in January that she would not seek a second full term on the St. Louis County Council. She ran to replace Sam Page after he became county executive in 2019 and won a full term in 2020.

The Chesterfield Democrat represents a portion of northern and northwestern St. Louis County on the council.

Boeing promises the project will create at least 500 jobs.

Boeing has not said exactly what it would build, but the company said the project would create about 500 new jobs.

One member of the St. Louis County Council called the Boeing request for a $155 million tax abatement on the company’s proposed $1.8 billion investment “tone-deaf timing.” It comes just weeks after the council voted against freezing property taxes for seniors.

A St. Louis County Council member is working on a bill that would require the County’s Department of Emergency Management and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to review construction and utility permits near Coldwater Creek.

The proposal supported by Democratic County Executive Sam Page mirrors one in St. Louis that could become law by the middle of July.

It's unclear what Friday's action means, since the public health order for masking is currently frozen based off a court order.

The St. Louis County Council voted Tuesday to overturn the county's indoor mask mandate. Opponents said County Executive Sam Page should have consulted council members before issuing the order.
