Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft talked about instilling confidence in the state elections and his opposition to a constitutional amendment legalizing marijuana for recreational use.

The St. Louis County Library has been named Missouri Library of the Year by the Missouri Library Association. The association cited the library’s community programming throughout the coronavirus pandemic and its partnerships with organizations like the St. Louis Area Diaper Bank and Operation Food Search.

The visits from law enforcement didn’t result in any actions, but they highlight the potential stakes of Missouri’s new law criminalizing certain books in schools.

Leaders in the southwestern Illinois village wonder if it will be just as hard for other small towns to get fiber internet.

“I’m sure Gov. Pritzker didn’t think the internet providers would be causing the digital divide, but they are,” said one member of the community who's been pushing for high speed internet for more than a decade.

Service finally may begin in Fairmont City in the spring.
