The Belle-Clair Fairgrounds started offering booster shots on Tuesday. It will operate three days a week for the next three weeks.

“We strongly encourage appointments. As they become available, we’ll have those posted on our website,” the county’s health department director said.

Vaccinations in St. Clair and Madison counties remained just above 40%, while case positivity rates tripled in the past month.

The St. Clair County Health Department suspended food or liquor licenses for seven bars and restaurants late last week, and could order more businesses to close if they don’t comply with a statewide ban on indoor service.
