The restrictions only apply in unincorporated areas of St. Louis County. They had the backing of the police chief and the union representing police officers.

The St. Louis County Council on Tuesday approved $5 million for cybersecurity improvements and advanced a bill that would freeze property taxes for seniors.

Boeing promises the project will create at least 500 jobs.

Boeing has not said exactly what it would build, but the company said the project would create about 500 new jobs.

One member of the St. Louis County Council called the Boeing request for a $155 million tax abatement on the company’s proposed $1.8 billion investment “tone-deaf timing.” It comes just weeks after the council voted against freezing property taxes for seniors.

The pay increase is the first in 18 years.

While the bill was promoted as a way to enhance safety, critics contended it would have made life worse for people with disabilities.

Runners and walkers in St. Louis County are urging County Executive Sam Page to veto a bill that would ticket people walking and running in streets where sidewalks are available. The County Council approved the measure earlier this month.

While there’s bipartisan agreement that $20,000 a year is too low, some say the proposal from a compensation commission is too much.

The St. Louis County Council dipped into reserves in order to bridge a roughly $40 million budget deficit for 2023.
