While Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District is GOP-leaning thanks to Franklin and Warren counties, the St. Louis County portion is shifting leftward.

Missouri voters will decide who faces off in November in contests for Governor, the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate.

U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, R-St. Elizabeth, has served in Missouri’s 3rd Congressional District since 2009.

“I think he was pretty animated," U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Hollywood, Fla., said. "I don’t know if I would describe it as a lunge."

Democrat Emanuel Cleaver of Kansas City was the only member of the Missouri congressional delegation to vote in favor of ousting Kevin McCarthy as speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

The longtime Republican lawmaker, who chairs the Veterans Affairs Committee and sits on the Agriculture Committee, said Republicans are willing to negotiate with Democrats on the debt ceiling.
